Fujairah To Host Open International Taekwondo Championships And Arab Cup In February 2026
The emirate of Fujairah is preparing to host two major taekwondo events in February 2026, confirming its role on the global sports calendar. The 13th Fujairah Open International Taekwondo Championships will run from 1st to 5th February, followed by the 6th Arab Cup Championship from 7th to 9th February.
Both competitions will take place at the Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah and are expected to attract extensive regional and international participation. The events are held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, who supports expanding the emirate’s sporting profile.

The hosting of the Fujairah Open International Taekwondo Championships and Arab Cup Championship aligns with the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi to strengthen the sports sector. During a recent press conference at the Fujairah Martial Arts Club, the Higher Organising Committee detailed operational plans for both the Fujairah Open International Taekwondo Championships and Arab Cup Championship. The committee outlined preparations covering venue readiness, technical systems, logistics and organisational procedures to ensure compliance with international event requirements.
Dr. Ahmed Hamdan Al Zeyoudi, President of the UAE Taekwondo Federation and Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee, stated that staging the Fujairah Open International Taekwondo Championships and Arab Cup Championship demonstrates the UAE’s ability to manage high-level sporting events. The championships follow global standards and contribute to the country’s reputation in international taekwondo.
Dr. Ahmed Hamdan Al Zeyoudi noted that the Fujairah Open International Taekwondo Championships is firmly established on the global taekwondo calendar as a technically demanding event that offers valuable ranking points. Both championships also function as key technical platforms to build athletes’ skills and increase the visibility of Emirati taekwondo internationally.
Nader Abu Shawish, Director of the Fujairah Martial Arts Club, explained that the operational roadmap for the Fujairah Open International Taekwondo Championships and Arab Cup Championship includes detailed coordination across facilities, services and technical support. Abu Shawish highlighted that the events encourage competition, exchange of experience between countries, and the development of national talent in a structured environment.
