Fujairah Set To Host World Taekwondo Cadet Championships 2025 With Record Participation
The Emirate of Fujairah will host the World Taekwondo Cadet Championships 2025 from 10th to 14th May, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah. The event will take place at Zayed Sports Complex and is expected to see record participation from 811 athletes aged 12 to 14, representing 93 countries.
Dr. Ahmed Hamdan Al Zeyoudi, Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee and President of the UAE Taekwondo Federation, highlighted that hosting this championship aligns with the Crown Prince's vision to position Fujairah as a global sports hub. He assured that preparations have been completed to ensure a tournament that reflects the UAE’s esteemed image.

The championships will feature ten weight categories for both male and female athletes. Male categories range from under 33 kilograms to over 65 kilograms, while female categories span from under 29 kilograms to over 59 kilograms. This diversity ensures a wide range of competitors can participate in the event.
Dr. Choue Chung-won, President of World Taekwondo, expressed his delight in selecting Fujairah for this prestigious event. He noted that the UAE's advanced infrastructure and robust support for sports make it an ideal location for international competitions. "The World Taekwondo Cadet Championships 2025 in Fujairah is the largest of its kind globally," he stated.
A notable feature of this championship is the inclusion of the World Taekwondo Refugee Team, Individual Neutral Athletes (AIN), and athletes competing under the World Taekwondo flag. This adds a humanitarian dimension to the event, promoting a message that goes beyond competition.
Nader Abu Shawish, Event Director, emphasized that hosting this event will significantly benefit local players by allowing them to compete against future world champions. "Our aim is to offer a unique sporting experience for all our guests and showcase young talent within the UAE," he said.
