Fujairah Crown Prince Opens First Facility For Ground Calcium Carbonate Production In The Emirate

The Crown Prince of Fujairah, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, highlighted the emirate's global prominence in attracting investment projects in mining and sustainable industries. This was during the opening of the Apex Chemical Industries factory, the first integrated facility in Fujairah for producing ground calcium carbonate. The event saw attendance from Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi and other local officials.

Apex Chemical Industries underscored Fujairah's appeal as an investment hub, drawing major companies due to its rich natural resources and government support. The factory aims to meet the UAE's growing demand for industrial materials by reducing import reliance and using local resources effectively. This strategic establishment is set to enhance resource efficiency and achieve industrial self-sufficiency.

H.H. Sheikh Mohammed stressed the Fujairah Government’s dedication to developing high-quality economic projects under H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi’s guidance. "These efforts aim to support the local economy and solidify Fujairah’s position as an attractive industrial destination that contributes to advancing sustainable development in the mining and manufacturing sectors both locally and globally," he added.

The Apex factory includes a unit for producing chemicals related to construction and advanced building solutions tailored to the UAE infrastructure sector's needs. This initiative marks a significant step towards achieving industrial self-sufficiency while enhancing resource efficiency.

Mohammed Saif Al Afkham, Chairman of the Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation, stated that opening the Apex Chemical Industries factory is crucial for optimising natural resource use under H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi’s directives. He noted that strategic plans support this vital sector’s future, aiming at sustainable development goals and economic growth through innovative industrial solutions.

Ali Qasim, Director-General of the Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation, mentioned that the factory will cater to both local and international markets. Calcium carbonate is essential due to its versatile properties, making it suitable for various industries. He emphasised that this factory significantly enhances Fujairah's mining and chemical industries sector.

Advancing Industrial Ventures

The facility spans 7,700 square meters in Thoban with an annual production capacity of 200,000 tons across two phases. Its significance lies not only in being a pioneering project but also in operating sustainably with electricity-driven production lines meeting global environmental standards.

Ali Qasim expressed hope that this project will pave the way for more industrial ventures contributing to sustainable development while boosting Fujairah’s status as an advanced industrial region.
