Federal Tax Authority Achieves Innovative Government Entity Certification For Second Year During UAE Innovation Month

The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has once again been recognised with the Innovative Government Entity certification, advanced level, during UAE Innovation Month, also known as UAE Innovates 2025. This accolade highlights the FTA's dedication to fostering innovation and operational excellence within the tax sector. The Global Innovation Institute (GInI) awarded this certification based on their evaluation of the FTA's efforts in creating a flexible and sustainable work environment that encourages creativity and continuous improvement.

The FTA also received Level 3 Innovation Accreditation from GInI for three notable projects. These include "EmaraTax," an integrated system for digital tax operations transformation, "Maskan," a digital solution aiding VAT refunds for UAE nationals building new homes, and "Muwafaq," which supports SMEs in voluntary tax compliance. These projects met the design, development, and implementation standards set by GInI.

FTA Earns Innovative Government Entity Certification Again

Khalid Ali Al Bustani, Director-General of the FTA, expressed pride in these achievements. He stated, "The Federal Tax Authority is committed to actively participating in UAE Innovation Month through a range of initiatives and activities that support the national innovation drive and contribute to achieving sustainable financial diversification. This is accomplished by adopting creative approaches that enhance the efficiency of the tax system and fostering constructive partnerships with all segments of society. Chief among them are the promotion of voluntary compliance and raising tax awareness."

Receiving these accolades underscores the FTA's commitment to innovation as a core strategy. The Authority continues to adopt modern methodologies and digital tools to enhance tax compliance and procedural efficiency while providing innovative solutions for taxpayers. The FTA aims to achieve global excellence in tax revenue collection by strengthening voluntary compliance culture to support financial sustainability.

The Director-General highlighted that this recognition aligns with the FTA’s Innovation Strategy. It aims to foster an institutional environment encouraging creativity and innovation while developing solutions that enhance taxpayer services continuously. This milestone reflects the FTA's dedication to adopting innovation as a fundamental approach to improving the UAE’s tax system.

Global Recognition

The certification was presented by the Regional Director for MEA at GInI, acknowledging the FTA's adoption of best practices in government innovation. This recognition enhances its global credibility as a leading government entity in innovation across the region. It reinforces its status as an initiative-taking body committed to smart tax policies supporting UAE Vision 2031 and Centennial 2071 goals.

Furthermore, the FTA is dedicated to nurturing an internal culture of innovation by empowering employees to contribute creative ideas that drive improvements in tax operations and services. This approach ensures continuous enhancement of taxpayer services while supporting digital transformation and promoting institutional excellence within the UAE’s tax sector.

These achievements reflect not only on individual projects but also on the broader commitment of the FTA towards adopting innovative practices that improve operational efficiency in taxation services. As part of its ongoing efforts, it remains focused on enhancing its strategies to align with national goals while maintaining high standards in service delivery.
