Fostering Positive Values In The Community: Key Takeaways From Majlis Mohamed Bin Zayed Session

The final Ramadan session of Majlis Mohamed bin Zayed, titled ‘Fostering Positive Values in the Community,’ was held with H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan and other dignitaries present. The event took place at Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, moderated by Eisa Al Subousi, and featured speakers who discussed the significance of values like generosity and compassion in enhancing community cohesion.

Dr Aysha Al Busmait addressed misconceptions about fostering and adoption, highlighting that Islam views fostering as a noble act. She emphasised the humanitarian legacy of the UAE’s Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, particularly his care for children needing family support. This legacy continues to inspire acts of kindness within the community.

Sinan Al Awsi, a civil engineer known for his tree-planting initiative, shared his experience of planting 209 trees along a 500-metre stretch in Abu Dhabi. His efforts aimed to provide shade for pedestrians while demonstrating individual responsibility towards community welfare. Al Awsi's actions not only benefited the environment but also inspired others to contribute positively to society.

Salem Al Braiki founded the Rabdan Volunteer Team after recognising the potential impact of public volunteering opportunities. He now leads programmes like ‘Journey of Generations,’ which involves over 700 senior citizens. These initiatives aim to bridge generational gaps and encourage young people to learn from older generations’ experiences and wisdom.

Reem Al Dhabyani, a volunteer at the Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination, highlighted their integral role in various fields such as sports and entrepreneurship. She noted their contributions to projects like ‘The Document’ and The Bee Café. Through volunteering, individuals can acquire lifelong skills and build lasting relationships with others.

The session concluded with moderator Eisa Al Subousi asking panellists about decisions they would make if they were officials in their fields. They stressed the importance of everyone taking steps to uplift their communities for a prosperous future. The session will be broadcast on Wednesday, 26th March at 5 pm on Abu Dhabi TV and YouTube.
