The proposed ethical framework is designed to support MOHAP's strategy of creating an environment conducive to technological advancements in AI across healthcare fields like medical diagnosis and treatment. It emphasises adopting high ethical standards to ensure compliance with core principles. The framework will guide the safe and responsible use of AI technologies while maintaining patient safety.
Dr. Al Amiri emphasised the importance of staying ahead of rapid digital transformations in global healthcare during his opening speech. He noted that the swift evolution of AI applications necessitates proactive measures by the ministry to adapt to these changes effectively. As a federal regulatory body, MOHAP is tasked with establishing frameworks that ensure optimal and safe technology use while upholding quality standards.
The forum also served as a platform for participants to explore contributions from various entities involved in AI-driven healthcare. Discussions focused on regulatory frameworks governing health authorities, academic institutions, and both public and private healthcare providers. Strengthening compliance with ethical principles and establishing best practices were key topics addressed during these discussions.
An interactive session was held to assess the draft ethical framework further. Participants shared insights on priorities and recommendations for implementing comprehensive ethical guidelines across the healthcare sector. This session aimed at gathering diverse perspectives to refine the framework effectively.
