Foreign Firms Propel Economic Growth In Beijing's Chaoyang District With Significant Investments
Beijing's Chaoyang district is experiencing robust economic growth, largely driven by foreign companies. In the first half of the year, the district's GDP grew by 5.1 percent. A senior district official shared this information during a media conference. The area has become a prime location for international investment in Beijing.
In the initial five months, Chaoyang attracted over 220 new foreign businesses, marking a 25.7 percent increase compared to the previous year. This growth rate is the highest in Beijing. The district remains a leading destination for international investors, according to a report from China Daily.

The district utilised $940 million in foreign capital during this period, reflecting a 2.8 percent rise from last year. This amount represents 38.8 percent of Beijing's total foreign capital usage, making it the largest share in the city.
"Internationalisation is the most prominent feature and advantage of Chaoyang," stated Nie Jieying, who heads the district. The area hosts nearly all foreign embassies in China and 80 percent of its international organisations and chambers of commerce.
Additionally, Chaoyang accommodates 70 percent of multinational corporations' regional headquarters and 65 percent of foreign financial institutions in Beijing. It also houses 90 percent of the city's foreign media outlets.
Focus on Global Communication
"We've placed high emphasis on building Beijing into an international communication centre," Nie said. Efforts are underway to enhance the international environment and promote institutionalised openness, aiming to present China's high-level openness to the world.
Chaoyang hosts over half of Beijing's international conferences and more than one-third of its international exhibitions annually. These events further solidify its status as a global hub.
World-Class Business Environment
"We are establishing a benchmark zone for creating a world-class business environment," Nie added. The district leverages strengths from top global rating agencies, nine out of ten leading law firms worldwide, eight out of ten top consulting firms, and over 2,000 commercial human resource service providers.
This strategic approach aims to enhance Chaoyang's appeal as an ideal location for businesses seeking international exposure and opportunities.
