Forbes Middle East Launches Building The Future Summit To Explore Smart Cities And Urban Solutions
The Forbes Middle East Building the Future Summit commenced at Berkeley, Abu Dhabi. This two-day event is held in partnership with the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, represented by the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme, and Abu Dhabi’s Department of Municipalities and Transport. It aims to explore smart city futures, sustainable urban solutions, and real estate investment opportunities.
Prominent figures attended the opening day, including Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa from the Department of Municipalities and Transport; Eng. Mohamed Almansoori of the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme; Eng. Maysarah Mahmoud Eid from the Abu Dhabi Projects and Infrastructure Centre; and Ali Al Gebely of ONE Development.

The summit gathered real estate leaders, investors, innovators, and architects globally. The focus was on smart cities' future, sustainable urban solutions, and regional real estate investment opportunities. Keynote speeches and panel discussions highlighted luxury integration in infrastructure development.
Khuloud Al Omian, CEO of Forbes Middle East, stated: "We are gathered today to address one of the most pressing and impactful issues of our time: how to build cities that are smarter, more efficient, and more sustainable." She emphasised that smart cities are essential for enhancing quality of life.
Discussions stressed effective policies' role in accelerating development through public-private partnerships. The UAE's efforts to reshape urban living with digital infrastructure were highlighted. Topics included interior design, mixed-use developments, green infrastructure, healthcare infrastructure, and AI-powered architecture.
Eng. Mohamed Almansoori said: "It is my honour to welcome you to this distinguished event... part of a national vision based on strengthening social cohesion." He noted housing as crucial for cohesive communities and smart planning as key to sustainable development.
Innovative Hospitality Concepts
Ali Al Gebely announced DO Hotels' launch in Dubai on May 28, 2025. This AI-powered hospitality concept blends music, AI, and wellness for unique experiences. He stated: "The integration of AI into urban development is not just strategic—it’s essential."
Al Gebely emphasised that "the future doesn’t begin with structures—it begins with the human journey." He described the UAE as an advanced ecosystem for private sector growth in urban development.
Awards Ceremony Honours Visionaries
An award ceremony honoured influential real estate leaders shaping the Middle East’s economy. These included government officials and visionary entrepreneurs who position the real estate sector as a global market force.
The summit continues tomorrow with sessions on future trends in real estate and urban planning. Leading experts will discuss investment opportunities worldwide.
