FOCP Launches October Awareness Month With Over 100 Mobile Clinics For Breast Cancer Screening

The Friends of Cancer Patients (FOCP) has initiated its annual Pink Caravan campaign to highlight Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This initiative focuses on the significance of early detection and aims to educate individuals on maintaining their health. Central to this year's campaign is the Pink Caravan (PC), which is setting up eight permanent and over 100 mobile clinics throughout the UAE to provide free breast cancer screenings.

In addition to medical services, the campaign will feature awareness workshops and community activities across the UAE. These efforts aim to engage both citizens and residents in understanding breast cancer prevention. The fixed clinics will operate from Friday, 11th October 2024, until Wednesday, 30th October 2024, between 4:00 pm and 11:00 pm.

FOCP encourages businesses to support PC's initiatives against breast cancer. Companies can book a mobile clinic for free screenings for female employees or organise a 'Pink Caravan Corporate Wellness Day.' This package includes mammogram screenings and educational lectures, offering a comprehensive approach to employee health awareness.

The mobile clinic provides mammograms for 20 female employees over 40 and clinical exams for 60 employees over 20. The Corporate Wellness Day package also includes virtual seminars and vouchers for mammograms and clinical exams for employees over 20. Additionally, companies can arrange awareness lectures on regular self-examinations.

From 4th to 6th October, PC will host a family-friendly event in Aljada, Sharjah. This event aims to promote early detection screenings and cancer prevention awareness among women, girls, and men. Running from 4 to 10 PM, it will include sports, games, workshops, and a petting zoo.

The Manbat Market will offer healthy products with part of the sales supporting FOCP's mission to aid cancer patients. This market provides an opportunity for attendees to contribute while enjoying various activities during the event.

Volunteer Opportunities for Medical Professionals

FOCP invites medical professionals such as doctors, nurses, and medical students to volunteer for the Pink Caravan campaign. Those interested can apply by emailing [email protected]. This call for volunteers highlights FOCP's commitment to community responsibility in fighting breast cancer.

The fixed clinics are located at Al Majaz Waterfront in Sharjah, Mushrif Mall in Abu Dhabi, City Walk in Dubai, two clinics at Ajman's Chinese Market (one each for women and men), Al Manar Mall in Ras Al Khaimah, Lulu Mall in Fujairah, and Umm Al Qaiwain Mall in Umm Al Qaiwain.
