FNC Speaker Saqr Ghobash And Russian State Duma Discuss Parliamentary Cooperation
Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), recently met with Babakov Alexander, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, at the FNC headquarters in Abu Dhabi. The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation across various sectors, reflecting the strong and strategic relations between the UAE and Russia. Both sides stressed the importance of further strengthening these ties.
Ghobash welcomed Babakov and his delegation, highlighting the depth of UAE-Russia relations and their shared commitment to expanding them. The meeting underscored the strength of friendship between both nations and emphasised developing parliamentary cooperation between the FNC and the State Duma. Collaboration on mutual interests in regional and international forums was also a key focus.
The meeting was attended by several FNC members who echoed the importance of these discussions. Ghobash noted that such meetings and reciprocal visits are part of ongoing parliamentary cooperation. He mentioned his recent visit to Russia, where he led an FNC delegation to the Nevsky International Ecological Congress, showcasing UAE’s commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation in environmental and economic fields.
During this visit, Ghobash highlighted efforts to expand both parliamentary and environmental collaboration, reinforcing strategic partnerships between the two countries. He affirmed FNC’s dedication to coordinating with Russia's Federal Assembly to promote joint parliamentary action and strengthen bilateral representation in international forums supporting peace, development, and global understanding.
Babakov praised the strategic relations between Russia and the UAE. He acknowledged UAE’s progress in sustainable development, innovation, artificial intelligence, space exploration, and empowering women and youth. Babakov also commended UAE’s role as a reliable partner in promoting regional security and stability through mediation, humanitarian aid, and economic diplomacy initiatives.
The discussions highlighted how both countries aim to deepen their partnership through enhanced cooperation across various sectors. This collaboration is supported by leadership from both nations who are committed to advancing mutual interests for their peoples' benefit.
