FNC Approves Union General Budget For Fiscal Year 2025 Totaling AED 71.5 Billion

The Federal National Council (FNC) has approved a draft federal law for the fiscal year 2025. This law links the Union General Budget with the budgets of independent federal entities. The session was led by FNC Speaker Saqr Gobash and attended by key ministers, including Abdul Rahman bin Mohammad Al Owais and Mohamed Hadi Al Hussaini.

Al Hussaini highlighted that the Union General Budget, sanctioned by the Federal Cabinet, amounts to AED71.5 billion in both revenues and expenditures. This balanced budget is the largest in UAE history, reflecting the leadership's commitment to enhancing quality of life and sustainable development.

FNC Approves UAE's Union Budget for 2025

A significant portion of the 2025 budget is allocated to social development, government affairs, and economic affairs. Specifically, AED27.859 billion, or 39% of the total budget, is earmarked for social development. This includes AED9.990 billion for education programmes and AED5.505 billion for healthcare services.

The budget also dedicates AED8.956 billion to social care initiatives. Other allocations include AED1.288 billion for culture and arts, AED660 million for housing, and AED8.126 billion for defence affairs.

In addition to social sectors, AED2.523 billion is set aside for economic affairs while public services receive a substantial allocation of AED23.431 billion. Public affairs and safety are supported with AED8.179 billion.

The approval of this comprehensive budget underscores the UAE's robust economy and resource sustainability aimed at supporting vital developmental projects across various sectors.

Council Observers Elected

During this session, Marwan Obaid Al Muhairi and Mira Sultan Al Suwaidi were unanimously elected as observers of the Council. Their election reflects a collaborative approach within the Council's operations.
