flydubai To Purchase 75 Boeing 737 MAX Aircraft As Part Of Fleet Expansion
flydubai, the airline based in Dubai, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Boeing for 75 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. This agreement aligns with Dubai's vision for aviation expansion in the coming years.
The MoU was signed by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of flydubai, and Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. The signing ceremony took place at the Dubai Airshow 2025 and was attended by Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer at flydubai.

Sheikh Al Maktoum commented on this significant development: "We are pleased to announce a new agreement with Boeing. Looking ahead, proactive fleet planning is essential to ensuring we are well-placed to meet the rising demand for travel, a demand we are confident will continue to grow. Anticipating future needs is a defining factor in the success of any airline and today's announcement reflects our commitment to that principle."
The agreement allows flydubai to utilise the flexibility and commonality of the 737 MAX family. The unique size and range of models like the 737-8, 737-9, and 737-10 will support their expanding network.
"flydubai is one of the world's first 737 MAX operators and their plan to place yet another order, their fourth 737 order to date, reflects the 737 MAX's market-leading value and versatility," said Stephanie Pope. "We are proud that Boeing airplanes will continue to serve as the backbone of flydubai's strategic fleet and growth plans."
Dubai offers an environment conducive to growth with its world-class infrastructure, progressive legislation, open-skies policies, and ability to attract global talent. This ecosystem supports flydubai's expansion efforts.
Currently, flydubai operates a young fleet comprising 96 Boeing 737 aircraft. This includes 27 next-generation Boeing 737-800s, 66 Boeing 737 MAX 8s, and three Boeing 737 MAX 9s.
