flydubai Signs Agreement For 150 A321neo Aircraft Acquisition
flydubai has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus for the acquisition of 150 A321neo aircraft. This agreement marks flydubai's first venture as an Airbus customer.
The MoU was signed by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of flydubai, and Christian Scherer, CEO Commercial Aircraft at Airbus. The signing took place during the second day of the Dubai Airshow 2025, with Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer at flydubai, also present.

"This new agreement is not only about adding aircraft. It supports the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, and aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33," said H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum.
He further stated that the A321neos will play a crucial role in expanding flydubai's network to meet increasing demand across various markets. He expressed optimism about building a strong partnership between flydubai and Airbus.
Christian Scherer from Airbus welcomed flydubai as a new customer. He noted that flydubai is one of the Middle East's most ambitious carriers. "The decision to invest in and introduce the A321neo into its fleet is another endorsement of the added value Airbus brings in terms of range, efficiency and passenger comfort," he said.
The A321neo belongs to the A320neo Family and features advanced technologies like new generation engines and Sharklets. These innovations contribute to over 20 percent fuel savings and reduced CO₂ emissions compared to older single-aisle aircraft models.
This collaboration between flydubai and Airbus signifies a significant step towards enhancing operational efficiency while supporting environmental goals through advanced aviation technology.
