Flydubai Invites Emirati Graduates To Apply For Aircraft Maintenance And Engineering Apprenticeship Programme

flydubai, a Dubai-based airline, has opened applications for its Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Apprenticeship. This programme invites motivated Emirati high school graduates to apply starting September 2025. The four-year initiative is fully sponsored and aims to provide young UAE Nationals with essential technical skills and practical experience in aviation. Successful participants will become certified Aircraft Technicians for flydubai, approved by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).

The apprenticeship is part of the UAE National Development programme and operates under flydubai’s Maintenance and Engineering department. It targets UAE Nationals aged 17 to 24 who meet specific eligibility criteria. Participants will undergo intensive theoretical and practical training over four years. Those who excel in theoretical training will progress as Aircraft Technician trainees at flydubai, gaining hands-on experience with operational aircraft while maintaining a logbook of their progress.

Applications Open for flydubai Apprenticeship Programme

Nasser Binkherbash, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at flydubai, stated, "at flydubai, we remain committed to investing in the development of UAE National talent and creating opportunities for the next generation to build long-term careers in aviation. The GCAA CAR 147 Approved Maintenance Training Organisation Certification has enabled us to run inhouse training and certification programmes that build a pool of qualified homegrown talent to support our ambitious growth plans."

Upon completing the programme, participants can apply for the GCAA’s Basic Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence (AMEL). This qualification allows them to secure employment with flydubai as certified Aircraft Technicians. The successful enrolment of the first batch highlighted the initiative's importance in bridging education and industry gaps.

Binkherbash added, "The successful enrolment of the first batch has reaffirmed the importance of this initiative in bridging the gap between education and industry. With the new batch, we look forward to welcoming new apprentices who are passionate about engineering and innovation, and who are ready to support flydubai’s growing fleet."

flydubai continues its commitment to developing UAE Nationals through various initiatives. These include the Ab Initio Pilot Training Programme (MPL), Cadet Pilot Programme, internships, and work placements. Such initiatives align with the airline’s strategic plans and create promising career paths for skilled local talent.

This comprehensive approach ensures that flydubai not only supports its growth ambitions but also contributes significantly to nurturing homegrown expertise within the aviation sector.
