Dubai FinTech Summit's World Cup Attracts $9.25 Million For Startups

The FinTech World Cup (FWC) Grand Finale, an event eagerly anticipated by the global financial technology community, concluded with significant achievements during its latest edition hosted by Trescon in partnership with the Dubai FinTech Summit (DFS), VISA, Emirates NBD, and Amazon Web Services (AWS). This prestigious event was marked by an overwhelming commitment from various investors, accumulating to over $9.25 million in dedicated investments towards the future of FinTech.

Throughout the competition, 15 elite start-ups from across the globe, including Audax, Xaults Technologies, Monak E-Services, YABX, ALTPAYNET, APPRO, Libeara, Letbloom, Myzoi, Vault22, Lordsystem, MOIN, Alphastream.ai, Validus, and Namara, showcased their innovations. They presented in front of a global audience of investors on the second day of the DFS, making compelling cases for the value and potential of their solutions.

Dubai Summit Nets  9M for FinTech

APPRO, a standout among its peers, clinched the Winner title of the FWC, securing an immediate investment commitment of $500,000. Other notable start-ups also attracted significant investments; Finix196 received a $5 million commitment from Dhruv Management, Motive Partners dedicated $3 million to Alpha Stream, and Validus was promised $750,000 by Aum Ventures.

Mohammed Saleem, Founder and Chairman of Trescon, expressed his enthusiasm for the event's success and its role in fostering an environment conducive to FinTech innovation. He highlighted the collaborative effort that made the platform a reality, offering participants not only capital but also access to a growth-oriented regulatory environment and Trescon's international network. Saleem, also serving as a FWC Jury Member and investor, reaffirmed his support by committing to invest in some of the start-ups, including APPRO, the winner of the FWC Grand Finale.

Naveen Bharadwaj, Group CEO of Trescon, emphasized the significance of the FinTech World Cup in addressing real-world challenges through collaboration and capital. He shared that beyond the financial commitments, the winner and first two runners-up would benefit from mentorship by the esteemed jury, Trescon Credits, and Amazon credits. These incentives are designed to bolster their growth, industry recognition, and global brand exposure, fostering an ecosystem that propels the FinTech industry forward.

The jury, an assembly of distinguished professionals from the FinTech sector, included notable figures such as Nasir Zubairi, CEO at The LHoFT Foundation; Hugo Bongers, Partner at Motive Ventures; Sara Tabana, Senior Director of FinTech Innovation Strategy at Visa; and Melissa Cannon Guzy, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Arbor Ventures, among others. Their expertise and insights were instrumental in guiding the competition towards its successful conclusion.

The Dubai FinTech Summit, now in its second edition, benefitted from the support of global corporate partners, foundational contributors like VISA, Emirates NBD, Etisalat, and the Commercial Bank of Dubai. This collective support underscores the growing importance and the vibrant future of the FinTech industry, as evidenced by the successful outcomes of the FinTech World Cup Grand Finale.
