FIFA World Cup 2026 Celebrates One Year Countdown With Exciting Events Across Host Cities
The FIFA World Cup 26™ is set to begin on 11 June 2026 in North America. This edition will be the largest ever, featuring 48 teams across three countries and 16 host cities. An estimated 6.5 million fans are expected to attend matches in Canada, Mexico, and the United States, making it a truly global event.
As part of the countdown to this monumental event, all 16 host cities will reveal countdown clocks. These clocks, adorned with each city's unique Official Host City Brand, are placed in central locations and will tick down to midnight on 11 June 2026. Local events and celebrations will also take place across North America.

The United States is gearing up for another major event: the new FIFA Club World Cup™, starting this Saturday in Miami, Florida. This tournament will feature 32 top club teams from around the world competing for the title of FIFA’s true club world champion. The excitement surrounding these events is palpable.
In addition to countdown clocks, each host city will release a video showcasing a local celebrity or personality. These videos aim to highlight what makes each city special and inviting. "The splendour, culture and unique flavour of each of our 16 Host Cities will be on full display," stated FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
With one year remaining until the tournament begins, 13 teams have already secured their spots. Co-hosts Canada, Mexico, and the USA automatically qualify. Other confirmed teams include Argentina, Jordan, Uzbekistan, Australia, Brazil, Ecuador, IR Iran, Japan, Korea Republic, and New Zealand.
The remaining 35 teams will be determined by March 2026. The group stage matchups will be decided during the Final Draw scheduled for December 2025. Fans eagerly await these announcements as they plan their attendance at this historic event.
