EtihadWE Partners With ePointZero To Boost UAE's Clean Energy Transition

Etihad Water and Electricity (EtihadWE) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ePointZero, a subsidiary of the International Holding Company (IHC) group. This collaboration aims to explore new power generation projects to support the UAE's transition to clean energy.

The partnership will concentrate on projects under EtihadWE’s Self-Generation Programme. This includes initiatives involving gas, renewable energy sources, and battery storage solutions. By broadening its energy portfolio, EtihadWE seeks to improve the reliability, efficiency, and sustainability of the regional power network.

The MoU outlines plans for both parties to evaluate potential project sites, investment models, and financing structures. ePointZero may also provide advanced technologies and engineering services to ensure seamless integration with the national grid.

Through this collaboration, we aim to enhance efficiency, drive decarbonisation, and ensure stable energy supply for future generations. Mohamed Hesham, CEO of ePointZero, commented on the partnership's significance: "Our collaboration with EtihadWE represents an important step toward building greater energy resilience across the region. Together, we will build a new model for how generation, storage, and transmission can work in sync, one that strengthens local capacity while enabling sustainable growth for the communities we serve."

The projects will be spearheaded by Emirates Utilities Development Company (EUDC), a subsidiary of EtihadWE responsible for developing infrastructure projects in the region. Once comprehensive feasibility studies are conducted and due diligence is completed, the partnership may advance to a Joint Development Agreement. This would formalise investment and implementation arrangements.

By collaborating with ePointZero, EtihadWE aims to create a robust framework for future energy solutions in the UAE. The focus is on enhancing local capacity while ensuring sustainable growth for communities served by these initiatives.
