Etihad Rail Signs 10 Strategic MoUs During Global Rail 2024 To Enhance Transport Infrastructure
Etihad Rail has wrapped up the first Global Rail Transport Infrastructure Exhibition & Conference (Global Rail) 2024. The event, supported by Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, saw the signing of 10 MoUs and agreements with international companies. These partnerships aim to shape the future of transport and infrastructure sectors.
The exhibition was hosted by Etihad Rail in collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MOEI), ADNEC Group, and dmg events. It focused on "Setting Transport Infrastructure and Global Connectivity in Motion." The event featured strategic discussions and technical conferences to explore innovative railway policies and cross-sector collaboration.

Etihad Rail signed an MoU with Presight AI Technologies LLC, a UAE-based company, to implement digital solutions across its operations. This partnership will leverage AI expertise to enhance efficiency and productivity in capital planning and corporate excellence. The goal is to position Etihad Rail as a leader in AI-powered railway innovation.
An agreement with RITES Ltd., an Indian public sector enterprise, aims to explore synergies in transportation and infrastructure development. This includes rolling stock supply, leasing, consultancy, and project management for railway development in the UAE and beyond.
Etihad Rail also partnered with Korea National Railway (KNR) and Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL). This collaboration focuses on technical exchanges, knowledge sharing, and joint efforts in railway construction, project management, operations, facility maintenance, and rolling stock.
A partnership with the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKÖ) aims at knowledge exchange in railway planning, construction, operation, maintenance, and technology. It explores intermobility opportunities, high-speed rail, and sustainable practices between the UAE and Austria.
Innovative Solutions for Future Mobility
L&T Technology Services Limited (LTTS) collaborated with Etihad Rail to establish a National Mobility Innovation Centre in Abu Dhabi. This centre will focus on developing sustainable transportation solutions while fostering talent through research initiatives.
IronLev's passive ferromagnetic levitation system will be explored for integration into Etihad Rail's operations. This could lead to faster, more energy-efficient transportation solutions without complex infrastructure requirements.
Enhancing Communication Systems
An MoU with Hitachi Rail aims to enhance communication systems for future passenger services via the UAE’s national rail network. Hitachi will equip stations with advanced communication systems to improve management and passenger safety while supporting the UAE's Net Zero by 2050 strategy.
SBS Transit from Singapore signed an MoU to leverage mobility solutions and AI applications for developing the railway sector in the UAE. This agreement also explores future collaboration opportunities in this field.
Conferences Highlighting Innovation
The event included a Strategic Conference that discussed policy frameworks for accelerating railway benefits. A Technical Conference showcased research developments presented by industry leaders. Over 80 panel sessions featured more than 150 international speakers discussing challenges related to financing and innovation.
The Finance Pavilion provided a platform for financiers to discuss funding opportunities for advancing transport sectors. The International Projects Pavilion highlighted global operators while the Innovation Hub empowered entrepreneurs showcasing disruptive technologies poised to transform transport sectors.
