Etihad Airways Flypast Marks Spectacular Start To Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2025

Etihad Airways marked the start of the 2025 Formula 1® Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix with a low-altitude flypast over Yas Marina Circuit. This event, held at 500 feet, has become a signature moment that precedes the final race of the region's largest sport-and-entertainment weekend. The spectacle included the Al Fursan Aerobatic Team, which painted the sky in UAE flag colours.

The Airbus A380 was expertly piloted by Etihad’s senior pilots, including Captain Adel Al Zubaidi, Captain Azizan Bin Othman, Captain Harris Kynigos, and Captain Abdulla Alafeefi. They executed a precisely timed twilight flypast as the circuit transitioned from sunset to floodlights. This tradition is a highlight for spectators and showcases Etihad's commitment to excellence.

Captain Adel Al Zubaidi expressed his pride in leading this iconic flypast. "Yas Marina Circuit is incredible from the air and we know tens of thousands of people are watching. It's a very special moment to represent my country and pass over the track just after the national anthem plays. To represent the UAE while the eyes of the world are watching us, is very special." This marks his eighth Grand Prix flypast since he led the inaugural one in 2009.

Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer at Etihad Airways, highlighted the significance of this event for Abu Dhabi. "The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is one of the most exhilarating times in Abu Dhabi, attracting thousands of international visitors from around the world. The fly-past over Yas Marina Circuit is a tradition which Etihad began with the first race in Abu Dhabi in 2009, and we’re honoured to see the Etihad livery fly over this spectacular circuit, accompanied by the talented Al Fursan jets."

As a title partner of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Etihad Airways played a crucial role in bringing fans from nearly 90 destinations worldwide. Etihad Guests members enjoyed exclusive access to trackside Hospitality on the Hill. Additionally, F1 Village featured an Etihad activation area with culinary showcases, children's activities, and simulator experiences for Grand Prix visitors.
