Etihad Airways Celebrates One Year Of Operations At Terminal A In Zayed International Airport
Etihad Airways, the UAE's national airline, marks a year of significant growth at Terminal A, Zayed International Airport. Since moving to this terminal in November 2023, Etihad has increased its weekly flights from 1,336 to 1,732. The airline now connects Abu Dhabi to over 80 global destinations through its extensive network.
The transition to Terminal A has been pivotal for Zayed International Airport. It is now recognised as the fastest-growing airport in the Middle East for international flight seat capacity. The terminal can accommodate up to 45 million passengers annually, enhancing Abu Dhabi's status as a global aviation hub.

Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways, stated: "In just one year, Terminal A has transformed the travel experience for our guests and supported Etihad's ambitious growth plans. This world-class facility has enabled us to enhance our service standards significantly, offering greater comfort and convenience while strengthening Abu Dhabi's position as a global aviation hub. As we continue to expand our network and fleet, Terminal A provides the perfect platform for Etihad's next chapter of growth."
The premium lounges at Terminal A have elevated Etihad's offerings. Spanning three floors, these lounges include the Be Relax Spa with complimentary treatments for First Class and Residence guests. The Liwan Global Dining restaurant features live cooking stations and buffets, while the Constellation Bar showcases a 25-metre glass sculpture of Abu Dhabi's skyline.
Etihad has focused on enhancing guest experiences during its first year at Terminal A. Self-service kiosks with biometric face recognition allow passengers to complete bag drop in just 30 seconds. Biometric technology is also available at check-in, boarding gates, and immigration touchpoints.
The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) facility recently moved to Terminal A. This makes Abu Dhabi the only location in the Middle East and Asia with a US preclearance facility. Passengers can complete all US immigration and customs procedures before departure for seamless entry into the United States.
Future Expansion Plans
Etihad continues its network expansion strategy by introducing new destinations worldwide from Zayed International Airport. With ongoing fleet expansion in 2024 and more aircraft joining in 2025, Etihad aims to further broaden its global reach.
The airline offers additional amenities for arriving guests. The Etihad Chauffeur waiting area provides shower facilities and grab-and-go snacks, allowing passengers to refresh before using the chauffeur service.
Etihad Airways' commitment to innovation and passenger comfort is evident through these developments at Terminal A. By leveraging advanced technology and expanding its network, Etihad strengthens its position as a leading global airline from its base in Abu Dhabi.
