Etihad Airways Hits New High With 12 Million Passengers In Eight Months

Etihad Airways has reported a significant increase in passenger numbers, welcoming 12 million passengers, which marks a 36% rise from the previous year. The airline's traffic statistics for August 2024 reveal that the rolling 12-month passenger count surpassed 17 million, nearly 70% higher than the full year of 2022.

In August alone, Etihad Airways carried 1.7 million guests and achieved an average passenger load factor of 89%. This performance highlights the airline's strong presence during the summer holiday season. Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways, stated, "Our passenger numbers in August increased significantly compared to the same period last year, demonstrating our continued growth momentum."

Neves also noted that Etihad maintained a healthy passenger load factor of 89% for August 2024 while expanding its capacity compared to 2023. He added, "This robust performance, particularly during the holiday period, underscores the growing preference for Etihad among travellers."

The airline's operating fleet has grown to 95 aircraft, up from 79 in the same period last year. This increase of 16 new aircraft over the past twelve months reflects the company's ambition and commitment. Neves mentioned that Etihad consistently delivered a load factor exceeding 86% during this period.

In August, Etihad introduced the last two of six A321neos expected in 2024 into operation. Additionally, the airline is now flying to ten more passenger destinations than at this time last year. This expansion enhances Etihad's network and supports Abu Dhabi's position as a global aviation hub and a major tourist destination.

The impressive growth in passenger numbers and fleet expansion demonstrates Etihad Airways' dedication to providing excellent service and meeting increasing travel demands. The airline's strategic efforts have positioned it well for continued success in the competitive aviation industry.
