ERC Distributes Food Baskets And Iftar Meals To Support Families In Hadhramaut During Ramadan
The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) is actively engaged in humanitarian and relief initiatives in Hadramout Governorate during Ramadan. Their efforts focus on aiding needy families and fostering community values of cooperation and solidarity. This initiative is part of the ERC's ongoing mission to support vulnerable groups and improve food security during this holy month.
Hamid Rashid Al Shamsi, Advisor for Development and International Cooperation and the ERC's representative in Hadramout, stated that the ERC's Ramadan projects include distributing food baskets and Iftar meals to fasting individuals. He stressed the importance of reaching the most vulnerable families and thanked those in the UAE who supported these efforts.
In the first half of Ramadan, the ERC team distributed 3,130 food baskets out of a planned 8,000. This effort benefited 40,000 people across various regions in Hadramout. The ERC plans to distribute more food baskets soon to assist additional families, aiming to ease their difficulties during this sacred month.
Supporting those who fast has been a crucial aspect of these initiatives. The ERC distributed 11,778 Iftar meals from a target of 20,000 meals. Additionally, they provided 5,857 pre-Iftar snack meals out of a planned 9,548 across different areas in Hadramout. These meals were distributed through 26 designated sites, bringing joy to many families.
The ERC emphasises social solidarity by involving local communities in these initiatives. By engaging residents in their projects, they aim to strengthen communal bonds while providing essential support. Al Shamsi highlighted this approach as vital for ensuring assistance reaches those most in need.
