Epson's New Direction: Junkichi Yoshida Appointed CEO to Lead Growth Initiatives
Epson, a leading company known for its innovation and technology, recently announced significant changes in its leadership structure. Junkichi Yoshida will take on the roles of President, Representative Director, and Chief Executive Officer from 1 April 2025, stepping into the shoes of Yasunori Ogawa. Until now, Yoshida has been a pivotal figure in the company, serving as Director, Executive Officer, and Chief Operating Officer of the Printing Solutions Division. Ogawa is set to become the Chairman and Director, marking a new chapter in Epson's history.
The shift in leadership aligns with the completion of Epson's Epson 25 Renewed strategy, initiated in 2021. This strategy aimed at revamping the company's corporate vision to foster future growth. The introduction of a new leadership team is designed to strengthen the company's management foundation. This team will be instrumental in both devising and implementing the forthcoming strategic vision, thus ensuring sustained enhancement of Epson's corporate value.

Yasunori Ogawa, the outgoing President, expressed his confidence in Yoshida's capabilities to lead the company into the future. Ogawa stated, "The 2025 fiscal year is the final year of Epson 25 Renewed and is also a pivotal year in the formulation of the next corporate vision for driving future growth. I believe that now is the right time to hand over the reins of the company to a new leader who can shoulder this heavy responsibility. I am confident that Junkichi Yoshida will demonstrate excellent leadership and propel Epson to new heights in the future." This transition comes at a crucial time as Epson wraps up its current strategic phase and embarks on formulating its next corporate vision.
Junkichi Yoshida, the incoming President, shared his vision for the future of Epson, emphasizing the importance of innovation and meeting customer needs. "This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Epson brand. I would like to harken back to our history and prepare for the next 50 years of growth and progress. In this highly competitive age, we must expand our businesses at a rate that exceeds the economic growth rates of nations and regions, both in developed and emerging markets. To achieve this, it is more important than ever to let go of preconceived notions, anticipate the underlying needs of our customers, and provide them with solutions that capitalize on our technology," Yoshida said.
Yoshida also highlighted the company's commitment to technology and customer service, concluding, "We have continuously refined our efficient, compact and precise technologies, and we will continue to do so. I believe that our role is to deliver solutions based on these technologies to our customers." This statement underscores Epson's dedication to further enhancing its technological capabilities and offering superior solutions to its customers.
In his future role as chairman, Ogawa aims to reinforce the company's governance and effectiveness. He remarked, "In my role as chairman of the board, I will seek to further enhance board effectiveness; strengthen Epson's corporate governance; engage in external, public, and social activities; and occasionally advise President Yoshida." This emphasis on governance and external engagement reflects the company's intent to solidify its standing and ensure responsible leadership.
