Environment Minister Abdulrahman Alfadley To Patronize 6th International Date Palm Conference In Riyadh

The 6th International Date Palm Conference and Exhibition, named "The World of Dates," will be held at King Saud University in Riyadh from November 25 to December 4. Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman Alfadley will oversee the event, which is organised by the National Center for Palms and Dates. This gathering will bring together a notable group of local and international experts, specialists, and exhibitors.

The conference's theme this year is "Investment and Innovation to Explore New Horizons for the Palm and Date Sector." It is being conducted in scientific partnership with King Abdullah University of Science and Technology. The event aims to underline the sector's vital role in sustainability and food security through various panel discussions and scientific sessions.

Minister Alfadley to Attend Date Palm Conference

These sessions will delve into innovations within the palm and date sector. They will also highlight pioneering research and initiatives nominated for the National Center for Palms and Dates Award. A key focus will be on promoting circular economy principles in date cultivation and processing.

The conference will tackle challenges related to palm pests and diseases. It will also emphasize smart farming technologies alongside post-harvest automation to enhance production efficiency and quality. These topics are crucial for advancing the sector's capabilities.

The "World of Dates" exhibition will be open to visitors free of charge from 4 PM to 11 PM. It will feature various zones, including pavilions representing different regions of Saudi Arabia. Each pavilion will showcase the unique identity and dates specific to its region, offering visitors a diverse experience.

In 2024, Saudi Arabia achieved a significant milestone by ranking first in global date exports. The export values reached SAR1.695 billion with a production volume exceeding 1.9 million tons. These exports reached 133 countries worldwide, marking substantial progress in global markets.

This event serves as an important platform for discussing advancements in the palm and date industry. By focusing on innovation, sustainability, and global market reach, it aims to drive further growth in this vital sector.
