Emirates Teams Up With Tourism Ireland To Elevate Inbound Visitor Numbers
Emirates, the renowned global airline, has recently inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tourism Ireland, setting the stage for a collaborative effort to enhance inbound tourism to Ireland. This partnership leverages Emirates' expansive network, which spans over 140 destinations worldwide, aiming to attract more visitors to the scenic landscapes and rich cultural heritage of Ireland.
The MoU was ceremonially signed by Thierry Aucoc, the Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations for Europe at Emirates, alongside David Boyce, the Head of Emerging Markets at Tourism Ireland. This collaboration is poised to explore and implement joint advertising campaigns, focusing on increasing the influx of tourists to Ireland from key markets. These strategic markets include Australia, the UAE, and New Zealand, which are integral parts of Emirates' extensive global network.

Adnan Kazim, the Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer at Emirates, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting the airline's commitment to bolstering Ireland's tourism sector. Kazim emphasized Ireland's appeal as a premier destination within Emirates' European network, known for its cultural and historical significance. He assured that Emirates would continue to offer seamless connectivity for travellers aiming to explore Ireland.
David Boyce of Tourism Ireland echoed the sentiment, pointing out the critical role of accessibility in boosting tourism. The collaboration with Emirates is seen as a vital step towards enhancing visitor numbers from the Middle East and further afield, capitalizing on the direct link between improved access and tourism growth.
Emirates' Impact on Irish Tourism and Trade
Since the commencement of the Dublin-Dubai route in January 2012, Emirates has successfully transported over 3 million passengers, marking the route as one of the airline's most triumphant. Presently, Emirates operates a double daily flight schedule between Dublin and Dubai, using the Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. This operation has the capacity to carry up to 1,440 customers daily, facilitating greater tourist and business travel between the two destinations.
Furthermore, Emirates SkyCargo, the airline's freight division, plays a crucial role in supporting Ireland's economy. Each Boeing 777 flight on the Dublin route can transport up to 25 tonnes of cargo. This includes a wide range of goods from pharmaceuticals and medical equipment to electronics, seafood, dairy products, and even thoroughbred horses. The cargo service not only supports Irish businesses by connecting them with international markets but also enhances Ireland's export capabilities. Destinations such as Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Sydney, and Singapore are now more accessible for Irish exports, thanks to Emirates SkyCargo.
In addition to facilitating trade, Emirates also promotes Irish culture and products on its flights. Passengers have the opportunity to enjoy a range of Irish products onboard, including VOYA, Killowen Yogurt, and Keogh's Crisps, showcasing the best of Ireland's culinary offerings to a global audience.
