Emirates SkyCargo And LODD Autonomous Collaborate On Drone Delivery Solutions For Air Cargo
Emirates SkyCargo and LODD Autonomous have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the 2025 Dubai Airshow. This agreement aims to explore advanced air cargo solutions. Badr Abbas, Emirates SkyCargo’s Divisional Senior Vice President, and Rashid Al Manai, CEO of LODD Autonomous, signed the MoU.
The collaboration will focus on validating the use of Vertical Take Off and Landing (VTOL) aircraft within Emirates SkyCargo's extensive global network. This will involve feasibility studies, regulatory discussions, and live demonstrations. The goal is to assess how these aircraft can enhance cargo operations worldwide.

LODD Autonomous recently achieved a milestone with the first test flight of Hili, an unmanned hybrid heavy-lift cargo aircraft developed in Abu Dhabi. Hili operates autonomously from take-off to landing and can carry payloads up to 250 kg over distances reaching 700 km.
Badr Abbas expressed that this partnership reflects their dedication to innovative solutions for transportation challenges. He stated, "Emerging technologies will form the foundation of the next era of logistics, and Emirates SkyCargo will be at the forefront of this movement, investing our experience and expertise into the development of innovations that drive tangible impact."
Emirates SkyCargo plans to leverage its four decades of expertise in global goods movement by participating in LODD's experimental operations until 2027. Their insights aim to inform design and development for potential commercial deployment in regional and global markets.
Strengthening UAE's Logistics Hub
Rashid Al Manai highlighted the partnership's potential benefits: "Together, we will accelerate the adoption of drone-powered solutions that expand reach, cut delivery times, and strengthen the UAE’s position as a global logistics hub while upholding the highest standards of safety and regulatory excellence."
This agreement marks a significant step towards integrating drone technology into logistics. It underscores both companies' commitment to enhancing efficiency while maintaining safety standards. As they work together, they aim to revolutionise air cargo transport through innovative solutions.
