Emirates Red Crescent Launches Annual Winter Campaign To Support 1.8 Million People Across 24 Countries

The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) has initiated its annual winter aid campaign, aiming to assist 1,856,324 individuals across 24 countries. This initiative, guided by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, involves an estimated expenditure of AED37,126,485. The campaign focuses on communities grappling with harsh winter conditions.

More than AED27 million is designated for aiding 1,350,000 people in Gaza. This allocation underscores the UAE's commitment to humanitarian efforts and its ongoing support for Palestinians. The aid includes winter clothing, blankets, heating supplies, food and hygiene parcels, children's essentials and shelter materials.

A significant portion of the campaign's resources is directed towards Gaza. This reflects the UAE’s dedication to humanitarian and developmental assistance in the region. Aid distribution will be facilitated through UAE embassies and ERC offices abroad to ensure swift and effective delivery.

Ahmed Sari Al Mazrouei, Secretary-General of the ERC, emphasised that this year's campaign is crucial due to escalating global crises and increasing humanitarian needs. He noted that the initiative aligns with the UAE’s longstanding humanitarian approach under President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's leadership.

The campaign aims to expand its beneficiary base in response to worsening conditions worldwide. Al Mazrouei highlighted that a substantial focus remains on Gaza as part of broader efforts to address rising needs in various regions. He expressed gratitude towards Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 for their collaboration.

Mohammed Al Shareef from Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 acknowledged the ERC as a vital partner in delivering humanitarian aid. He pointed out that their integrated relief efforts include air, land and sea deliveries alongside field programmes and hospitals serving vulnerable populations.

Coordinated Relief Efforts

The ERC continues to play a crucial role in providing essential supplies while overseeing transport and distribution processes. Al Shareef stated that these joint endeavours exemplify coordinated humanitarian action driven by solidarity and generosity values inherent within the UAE.

This year's expanded campaign reflects an urgent response to global challenges affecting vulnerable communities worldwide. By focusing on efficient distribution channels through partnerships with local and international entities like Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, the ERC aims to alleviate suffering during severe winter months effectively.
