Emirates Nuclear Energy Company Launches New Brand Identity To Enhance Clean Energy Security

The Emirates Nuclear Energy Company (ENEC) has unveiled a new brand identity to highlight its evolution as a key player in clean energy security. This rebranding reflects ENEC's ambition to become a global leader in nuclear energy. The initiative follows the company's transformation of the UAE power sector, introducing a new source of clean, reliable electricity that boosts national energy security.

ENEC's rebranding also underscores its role as an investor and developer of clean electricity on the global stage. The company is focusing on growth, investment in new nuclear technologies, and partnerships with both local and international high-tech firms. By doing so, ENEC aims to maximise the value of nuclear energy for the UAE through co-generation of heat, steam, ammonia, and hydrogen.

New Brand Identity for Emirates Nuclear Energy Company

The new identity aims to present a cohesive brand for ENEC, aligning with its mission to drive global decarbonisation efforts. It unifies the ENEC brand with its joint venture subsidiaries: Nawah Energy Company is now called ENEC Operations, and Barakah One Company is renamed ENEC Commercial. This streamlined approach supports ENEC's strategic clean energy partnerships.

Mohamed Al Hammadi, Managing Director and CEO of ENEC, stated, "The Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant is now contributing 25 per cent of the UAE's electricity needs, marking a significant milestone in the nation's energy landscape. This achievement represents the largest single decarbonisation effort in UAE history, directly reducing carbon emissions by 22.4 million tonnes annually."

Al Hammadi added that this is just the beginning for ENEC. The company focuses on operational efficiency and expanding its record in nuclear energy deployment. To date, four reactors have been successfully built and brought online, producing 40 TWh of clean electricity annually. These achievements demonstrate ENEC's capability to execute large-scale nuclear projects on schedule.

ENEC is entering a new era reflecting its future ambitions by accelerating nuclear energy deployment globally. By sharing expertise and technical know-how, ENEC aims to provide a model for other nations seeking to integrate nuclear energy as a clean and secure source of baseload electricity.

Commitment to Innovation

As part of increasing nuclear energy's share in the global mix, ENEC is driving innovation in advanced reactor technologies to enhance efficiency and sustainability. The company's commitment to operational excellence supports the UAE’s ambition to lead global energy transition efforts.

The rebrand comes amid renewed support for nuclear energy worldwide. Many countries and industries recognise its role in generating secure electricity. With global power demand expected to double by 2050, 25 nations and 14 banks have pledged support to triple global nuclear capacity by then.

Nuclear Energy as a Viable Solution

ENEC plans to support this growth by leveraging its capabilities to build a regional hub for nuclear energy in the UAE while investing in overseas projects. The Barakah Plant’s four units generate 40 TWh annually, meeting 25% of UAE’s electricity needs while preventing 24.4 million tonnes of carbon emissions each year.

The UAE leads in recognising nuclear energy's value for carbon-free baseload electricity. Abu Dhabi was first globally to include it in its Clean Electricity Certificates program. The Barakah project is also the first Middle Eastern and Asian nuclear project with Green Loan Status.

This comprehensive approach showcases that nuclear energy is not only economically viable but also crucial for long-term energy security and achieving Net Zero targets by 2050.
