Emirates Health Services Utilises AI Technology To Improve Pulmonary Tuberculosis Detection Accuracy
Emirates Health Services (EHS) is enhancing healthcare by integrating AI technology in Medical Examination Centers for Residency. This innovation focuses on detecting pulmonary tuberculosis through chest imaging. The initiative aligns with EHS's strategy to improve diagnostic services, ensuring more accurate and timely healthcare delivery.
Since AI's introduction in 2021, the accuracy of detecting pulmonary tuberculosis has improved significantly. By 2024, the accuracy rate increased from 80% to 98%. This improvement underscores advancements in AI for precise imaging analysis.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Naqbi, Acting Executive Director of the Supportive Health Services Sector at EHS, highlighted the importance of AI in medical diagnostics. "The incorporation of AI technologies in the Medical Examination Centers for Residency marks a pivotal advancement in improving the accuracy and efficiency of medical diagnoses and accelerating the identification of infectious diseases, particularly pulmonary tuberculosis," he stated.
Dr. Al-Naqbi emphasised that AI boosts testing accuracy to 98%, enabling swift intervention and high-standard healthcare delivery. He also noted that digital innovation is crucial for sustainable health services and achieving the UAE’s future vision.
This technology allows EHS to analyse imaging within a minute, reducing radiologists' report finalisation time. This efficiency speeds up diagnosis and treatment initiation, helping contain disease spread and improving patient outcomes.
