Emirates Foundation Joins Forces With General Motors To Boost Community Programmes

Emirates Foundation and General Motors (GM) Middle East have initiated a year-long collaboration, featuring a US$200,000 grant to support Emirates Foundation’s nationwide campaigns. This partnership began with GM Middle East's involvement in Emirates Foundation’s virtual Ideathon, which highlighted the importance of volunteering for sustainability.

Jack Uppal, President and Managing Director of GM Middle East, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership. "We are delighted to be working with Emirates Foundation on its far-reaching efforts to uplift the local community and ensure inclusivity is championed across the nation. Its vision aligns with that of our own, as we are keen to take forward our collaborative approach toward building an inclusive talent stream across nationalities, capabilities and age brackets that will help bring to life our vision for the future of mobility within the region."

GM and Emirates Foundation Partner Up

In the coming months, GM employees will volunteer in various activities organised by Emirates Foundation. One key initiative is the Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools (UCS) programme. This programme aims to foster social inclusion by bringing together students with and without intellectual disabilities to create accepting school environments.

The Dawamee Programme is another focus area where GM will contribute. This initiative seeks to empower Emiratis by providing remote and part-time job opportunities. Through this effort, GM aims to expand the talent pool among women and Emiratis, shaping the future of the mobility industry.

Mohanna Al Mheiri, Deputy CEO of Emirates Foundation, highlighted the significance of this collaboration. "This ground-breaking partnership with General Motors underscores our shared vision of creating meaningful impact by addressing key social and economic challenges, enhancing the quality of life, and driving forward the UAE's development goals. We look forward to the positive outcomes this partnership will bring, reflecting our joint dedication to making a lasting difference in the lives of community members."

Commitment to Sustainability

This significant move by GM Middle East will actively support established Emirates Foundation programmes such as UCS and Dawamee. Additionally, it includes newer ventures like the virtual Ideathon announced earlier at COP28.

The partnership aims not only at immediate benefits but also at long-term impacts on community development. By engaging in these initiatives, GM Middle East demonstrates its commitment to sustainability and social responsibility within the UAE.

The collaboration between Emirates Foundation and GM Middle East represents a strategic effort towards fostering inclusivity and empowering local communities through various programmes and initiatives.
