Emirates Council For Balanced Development And Emirates Nature-WWF Engage Al Rams Community In Sustainable Future Planning
The Emirates Council for Balanced Development and Emirates Nature-WWF recently hosted an interactive community event in Al Rams, Ras Al Khaimah. This gathering aimed to unite various community members, such as farmers, entrepreneurs, and youth, to discuss sustainable development. The event encouraged local participation to ensure future projects align with community needs while preserving the area's unique identity.
Al Rams is a picturesque location nestled between the sea and mountains, featuring coastal lagoons, mangroves, farms, and unspoiled shorelines. This natural beauty sets the stage for sustainable growth initiatives. The partnership between the Emirates Council for Balanced Development and Emirates Nature-WWF aims to unlock Al Rams' environmental potential through nature-based projects that preserve its cultural heritage.

More than 80 community members participated in the event, discussing their roles in ongoing development efforts. The majlis is part of a broader plan for Al Rams' sustainable development. Previous phases included constructing a community majlis, enhancing the Al Rams entrance and corniche, upgrading the marina, creating an eco-tourism master plan, and launching other development initiatives.
Under H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's leadership, the Emirates Council for Balanced Development strengthens partnerships with public and private sectors. This collaborative approach reflects the Council's belief that sustainable community development is a national priority achievable only through collective effort.
The partnership focuses on studying Al Rams' biodiversity and creating a 2.9 km eco-trail linking Dhayah Fort to coastal lagoons. These projects aim to conserve natural heritage while generating opportunities for locals, especially youth, farmers, and entrepreneurs. Their insights shape priorities across eco-tourism, conservation, and community development.
Al Rams is emerging as a model for sustainable rural living where biodiversity is protected, local economies thrive, and visitors connect with nature and culture. The Emirates Council collaborates with the private sector to instil social responsibility and drive economic growth through Emirati village development.
Emirates Villages Project
The "Emirates Villages" project aims to improve quality of life nationwide by creating a sustainable development model that encourages investment and supports local development. It focuses on beautifying villages while raising awareness of their historical significance in UAE history.
This initiative supports small enterprises in developing micro-economies within these villages. Media campaigns spotlight key attractions to elevate their profile on the domestic tourism map, contributing to wider social development goals.
Environmental Stewardship by Emirates Nature-WWF
Emirates Nature-WWF's legacy of environmental stewardship spans 25 years. The NGO protects ecosystems across the UAE while accelerating climate action and supporting food and water security. Its initiatives include blue carbon assessments, restoring traditional irrigation systems, smart agriculture models, eco-tourism models, and more.
This collaboration marks a strategic step forward in unlocking Al Rams' potential by championing nature-based projects that showcase its assets on the UAE tourism map. Together with Emirates Nature-WWF's efforts in environmental protection, this partnership aims to inspire individuals towards sustainability.
