Emarat And Lootah Biofuels Collaborate On Renewable Energy Initiatives Through MoU

The Emarat Petroleum Company and Lootah Biofuels have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to boost collaboration in renewable energy. This aligns with the UAE's strategy to enhance sustainability and develop renewable sources. The MoU sets a framework for cooperation aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and pollutants from fossil fuels, improving air quality, and supporting environmental sustainability.

Signed by Ali Khalifa Al Shamsi of Emarat and Yousif Saeed Lootah of Lootah Biofuels, the MoU focuses on expanding the collection network for used cooking oils through Emarat's retail stations. This initiative includes offering biodiesel, exploring sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) manufacturing, and providing biodiesel to vessels at specific ports.

Emarat and Lootah Biofuels Sign MoU for Sustainability

The agreement outlines plans to develop a mechanism for collecting used cooking oils via Emarat's retail network. This will help expand partnerships for recycling these oils into biofuel, offering an innovative solution to lessen environmental impact. The parties will establish processes for equipment, customer relationships, financial reconciliation, and other necessary elements.

Emarat aims to incorporate biodiesel produced by Lootah Biofuels into its retail offerings, following Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure guidelines. The introduction of biodiesel B5 is anticipated, with improvements aligned with MoEI timelines.

In support of sustainable transport and aviation fuel provision in the UAE, both parties will conduct feasibility studies and explore investment mechanisms for building a sustainable aviation fuel plant. This plant would serve the aviation sector in the UAE and beyond. Additionally, they are considering collaboration on selling biodiesel to vessels at certain ports to bolster sustainable maritime transport.

H.E. Mr. Ali Khalifa Al Shamsi stated, "At Emarat, we are committed to providing innovative and sustainable energy solutions that keep pace with the UAE’s vision on clean and sustainable environment. This cooperation with Lootah Biofuels is an important step towards achieving our goals of adopting biofuels within our network of stations."

Commitment to Sustainability

Yousif Saeed Lootah expressed pride in partnering with Emarat: "We are proud of our partnership with Emarat, a leader in the energy sector, as this cooperation represents an effective model of partnership between the government and private sectors to support national initiatives related to sustainable energy." He looks forward to significant achievements through this collaboration in line with national sustainability efforts.

Both companies reaffirmed their dedication to enhancing cooperation on current and future biodiesel projects as part of renewable energy initiatives. This supports the UAE's economic diversification and sustainable development goals by increasing biofuel usage.

This MoU marks a crucial step towards embracing global clean energy transformation while supporting UAE's sustainability objectives.
