Elon Musk Highlights Robotics And AI In Saudi-US Strategic Partnership At Riyadh Forum

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, and xAI, joined Abdullah Alswaha, Saudi Arabia's Minister of Communications and Information Technology, in a key dialogue at the Saudi-US Investment Forum in Riyadh. This event highlighted the strategic alliance between Saudi Arabia and the United States. Alswaha noted that their relationship is evolving from an energy-focused economy to one centred on innovation, technology, and artificial intelligence (AI).

Alswaha praised Musk's role in driving global technological change. He emphasised that under Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's leadership, Saudi Arabia aims to embrace transformative technologies like AI and robotics. The Kingdom aspires to be a global innovation hub and a major player in AI and the digital economy.

Musk shared his vision for humanoid robots as a productivity revolution capable of expanding the global economy tenfold. He suggested this could lead to an "economy of abundance" with a model of "comprehensive high income," surpassing traditional universal basic income concepts. Musk expressed gratitude to Saudi Arabia for adopting Starlink services in aviation and maritime sectors, marking a significant step toward advancing global communications technology.

Alswaha highlighted Saudi Arabia’s achievements in cloud services, digital infrastructure, and AI value chains. These efforts reflect the Kingdom’s ambition to lead in the post-data era by becoming a centre for responsible AI innovation. He stressed that these advancements are crucial for positioning Saudi Arabia as a leader in technological progress.

Musk discussed potential collaborations in smart mobility projects like RoboTaxi and The Boring Company’s tunnel transportation systems for Saudi cities. Such innovations could transform urban areas and enhance transit efficiency.
