Eid Al Fitr 2024 To Witness A 45% Surge In MENA E-commerce Sales, Uplo Predicts

E-commerce in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region is anticipating a significant surge during the 2024 Eid celebrations, with projections indicating a potential sales increase of nearly half compared to the previous year.

Uplo, a front-runner in online retail management within the MENA territory, disclosed its analysis comparing historical sales data with forecasted and real-time sales outcomes for an array of brands under its supervision. The company, which operates distribution centres across key MENA countries including Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt, Kuwait, and Lebanon, has predicted a year-on-year sales boost for select brands by as much as 45%, with an approximate 2.5% margin of error.

Eid 2024 Sees 45 E-commerce Boost

Nicolas Bruylants, the Co-Founder and CVO of Uplo, shared his optimism about the forthcoming sales period. "There's no doubt, 2024 will be the biggest Eid sales in history. Online brands will benefit from the best ever reach, hitting more people than ever before through targeted campaigns. Every e-commerce brand will be targeting a record number of customers, sales volumes, and revenue," he stated.

This anticipated spike in sales underscores the growing influence and reach of e-commerce platforms in the region, particularly during major shopping seasons such as the month of Ramadan and Eid, which traditionally ranks as the second busiest period for online retail, trailing only behind the shopping frenzy between Black Friday and Christmas Day.

The surge in e-commerce activity begins approximately one week before Eid and peaks on the first day of the holiday. Sales then gradually taper off over the following week to return to regular levels. The upcoming Eid is expected to see an increase in customer demand across virtually all product categories, indicating a broad-based boost in online shopping activity that encompasses a wide range of goods and services. This period presents an opportune moment for brands to maximize their online presence and sales strategies to capture the heightened consumer interest.

The analysis by Uplo not only highlights the significant economic impact of religious and cultural festivities on e-commerce but also illustrates the rapid evolution of consumer habits in the MENA region. As online brands gear up for what could be an unprecedented sales period, the focus on targeted marketing campaigns and strategic online presence will be more crucial than ever to leverage the anticipated increase in consumer spending during Eid 2024.
