Egypt And Oman Strengthen Cooperation On Gaza Ceasefire And Gulf Security Initiatives
Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates, Badr Abdelatty, highlighted the alignment of Egypt and Oman on regional matters. He stressed the importance of a comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza and maintaining Gulf security. This was discussed during a press conference with Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi after the Egyptian-Omani Joint Committee session in Cairo.
The session concluded with several memoranda of understanding being signed. These agreements covered various sectors including investment, education, labour, and technology. Both nations expressed their firm opposition to forced displacement plans. They also emphasised the need for a fair political solution leading to an independent Palestinian state based on 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Abdelatty underscored that the security of Oman and the Gulf is crucial to Egypt’s own security. He stated that any threats to this region are considered threats to Egypt as well. The ministers agreed on the necessity of addressing the Iranian nuclear issue through peaceful means. They rejected any actions that could destabilise regional peace.
The Egyptian minister condemned the displacement and starvation occurring in Gaza and the West Bank as blatant breaches of international law. He noted Egypt's active role, alongside Qatar and the United States, in negotiating an end to hostilities. The aim is to facilitate an international conference for Gaza's reconstruction at the earliest opportunity.
Oman's Foreign Minister reaffirmed his nation's support for Egypt's initiatives regarding Palestine. He backed the Arab plan for rebuilding Gaza and stood with Egypt on issues like the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam. Additionally, he urged for renewed dialogue between the United States and Iran to ease regional tensions.
Abdelatty praised Oman’s positive influence in managing regional conflicts. He stressed that resolving Iran's nuclear issue should be through diplomatic efforts within the Non-Proliferation Treaty framework. This approach aims to ensure long-term stability in the Middle East.
The discussions between Egypt and Oman reflect a shared commitment to addressing critical regional challenges collaboratively. Their unified stance highlights a strategic partnership aimed at fostering peace and stability across key areas in the Middle East.
