Emirates Golf Federation Enhances UAE's Status As A Key Destination For Global Golf Tournaments

The Emirates Golf Federation (EGF), founded in 1995, has significantly advanced its initiatives and events. This progress has positioned the UAE as a prime location for international golf tournaments, such as the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship and the DP World Tour. The EGF is instrumental in nurturing emerging talent to bolster national teams for global competitions.

Throughout the year, the UAE attracts sports stars from around the globe, highlighting its appeal due to top-notch facilities and infrastructure. Recently, national teams, including juniors, have excelled internationally. At the Pan Arab Ladies’ and Youth Golf Championships in Tunisia, they secured seven medals. Last year, the UAE Cubs team won gold at the GCC Golf Championships in Muscat.

UAE Becomes Key Venue for International Golf Events

This year, the UAE will host seven international tournaments. These include three elite Rolex Series events, with final qualifiers in Abu Dhabi and Dubai featuring top global players. In January, three tournaments will take place: TeamCap Championship at Abu Dhabi Golf Club, Hero Dubai Desert Classic at Emirates Golf Club, and Ras Al Khaimah Championship.

The UAE will also host final qualifiers for two elite Rolex Series tournaments. The Abu Dhabi Championship at Yas Links is scheduled from 6th-9th November 2025. The 2025 DP World Tour Championship will occur at Jumeirah Estates Golf Club from 13th-16th November.

Sheikh Fahim bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of EGF, highlighted efforts to promote golf across various ages and nationalities. The 'Future Falcons' programme has expanded significantly with numerous monthly tournaments. He noted that qualified infrastructure contributes to golf's popularity in the UAE.

The country boasts over 26 golf courses across different emirates. Eight national teams represent various age groups: U13, U15, and U18. Registered players exceed 9,000, with over 40,000 people playing golf generally in the UAE.

Future Plans for Olympic Qualification

The federation is developing a programme to prepare players for the LA 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, USA. This initiative aims to enhance player skills and readiness for this prestigious event.

The DP World Golf Tour ranks among the world's top tournaments. Hosting these events underscores the UAE's commitment to fostering sports excellence and attracting international attention.
