EGA Spectro Alloys Expands Aluminium Recycling Capacity To Meet Growing Demand In Minnesota
Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) has announced plans to further expand its EGA Spectro Alloys facility in Minnesota, USA. This expansion will increase the aluminium recycling plant's capacity to 200,000 tonnes annually. The project will add 45,000 tonnes of recycled billet capacity each year, with construction expected to finish by 2027.
EGA Spectro Alloys is currently increasing production following the completion of its first expansion phase in July. This phase added 55,000 tonnes of billet capacity. The latest expansion includes a new scrap melting furnace and a batch homogeniser, enhancing the plant's capabilities.

The demand for recycled aluminium in the US is projected to reach approximately 8 million tonnes annually by 2034, according to CRU, an independent business intelligence firm. Currently, the United States ranks as the second-largest market for recycled aluminium globally.
In Oklahoma, EGA plans to establish the first new primary aluminium production plant in the US since 1980. This facility is anticipated to produce at least 600,000 tonnes of primary aluminium annually, nearly doubling the country's current output.
EGA is also constructing the UAE's largest aluminium recycling plant in Al Taweelah. This plant will have a capacity of 100,000 tonnes per year for aluminium billets and 84,000 tonnes for T-Bars. Production is expected to commence in the first quarter of 2026.
Abdulnasser bin Kalban, CEO of Emirates Global Aluminium, stated: "The next phase of expansion at EGA Spectro Alloys is another important step in growing our production in the United States, where there is strong demand for both primary and recycled EGA-quality metal ‘made in America’."
Investment and Brand Development
EGA acquired an 80% stake in EGA Spectro Alloys in 2024. The metal produced at this facility is marketed under EGA’s recycled aluminium product brand RevivAL. This strategic investment aligns with EGA's commitment to expanding its presence and meeting rising demand for high-quality recycled metal.
This series of expansions reflects EGA's dedication to strengthening its position in key markets while addressing global sustainability goals through increased recycling capabilities.
