EGA Academy Launched By Emirates Global Aluminium To Boost Career Development And Talent Growth

Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) has introduced the EGA Academy, aiming to enhance skill development and career progression in the industry. This initiative aligns with Operation 300bn, focusing on nurturing talent within the aluminium sector. The goal is to boost productivity, increase economic contributions, and create more job opportunities in the UAE industrial sector.

The EGA Academy provides comprehensive learning and development opportunities for employees at all levels. Through structured pathways, expert-led sessions, and practical experiences, it aims to equip staff with essential technical, professional, and leadership skills. These programmes are tailored to meet the demands of today's rapidly changing industrial landscape.

EGA Academy Launched for Talent Development

Employees can access customised opportunities that align with their career goals. From early-career trainees to seasoned specialists and leaders, everyone can benefit from these programmes. A new digital platform, the EGA Academy App, supports this by allowing employees to explore development options, track progress towards career objectives, and receive ongoing feedback for personal growth.

Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, CEO of Emirates Global Aluminium, stated: "For decades, we have invested in talent development for the competitiveness of our business, to achieve our aspiration of becoming a talent-driven organisation, and to drive our contribution to the UAE’s industrial growth. Establishing the EGA Academy is a big step forward, and provides unparalleled opportunities for our employees to grow, lead, and contribute to the long-term success of EGA."

The academy operates at both EGA’s Al Taweelah site and Jebel Ali location. All existing training and development initiatives are now part of the EGA Academy. This includes flagship programmes like National and Graduate Training schemes aimed at preparing high school graduates for technical roles within EGA's operations.

EGA's National Training programme was first launched in 1982. It focuses on equipping high school graduates with skills necessary for technical positions in industrial operations and administration. Meanwhile, the Graduate Training programme targets university graduates who undergo 18 or 24 months of training for supervisory roles in corporate functions or frontline industrial operations.

Commitment to Local Talent

In 2024 alone, EGA recruited over 220 UAE Nationals through its longstanding National and Graduate Training programmes. This commitment underscores EGA's dedication to fostering local talent and supporting national employment initiatives.

The establishment of the EGA Academy marks a significant advancement in capability building within the company. By integrating all training efforts under one umbrella, it ensures a cohesive approach towards developing a skilled workforce that can drive future growth for both EGA and the broader UAE industrial sector.
