EGA Expands CelestiAL Solar Aluminium Supply Agreement With Hyundai Mobis For Sustainable Automotive Solutions

Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) has announced an expansion of its CelestiAL solar aluminium supply to Hyundai Mobis, a leading global automotive parts manufacturer. This development builds on an existing partnership that began in 2015. The new agreement will see the supply increase from 8,000 tonnes this year to as much as 15,000 tonnes annually by 2026.

Beyond 2026, EGA and Hyundai Mobis plan to explore a long-term agreement for supplying value-added products. These include billets, primary foundry alloys, and recycled aluminium. The two companies will also work together to develop exclusive new alloys tailored for automotive applications.

EGA Increases CelestiAL Supply to Hyundai Mobis

Aluminium's lightweight, strength, and corrosion resistance make it essential for the automotive sector. EGA is among the largest suppliers of foundry alloys globally in this industry. Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, CEO of EGA, stated: "At EGA, we remain committed to innovation in delivering the highest quality, low-carbon aluminium to our customers. We value our successful partnership with Hyundai Mobis and look forward to building on this collaboration in the years ahead. Sun Woo Lee, Senior Vice President and Head of Procurement at Hyundai Mobis, commented on the partnership's environmental benefits: "With a partnership with EGA, we will proactively respond to global environmental regulations by establishing a green supply chain using low carbon aluminium." This collaboration aligns with Hyundai Mobis' commitment to sustainability.

In 2024, production of CelestiAL solar aluminium increased by 27%, reaching 80,000 tonnes. This includes 8,000 tonnes of CelestiAL-R enriched with recycled content. EGA is certified under a global standard set by the automotive industry. This certification ensures rigorous quality management within the global automotive supply chain.

The strengthened relationship between EGA and Hyundai Mobis highlights their shared focus on innovation and sustainability. By increasing the supply of low-carbon aluminium and exploring new alloy developments, both companies aim to meet evolving industry demands while adhering to environmental standards.
