EDGE's LAHAB Partners With ASSAN Group To Co-Develop Innovative Ammunition Solutions

EDGE Group's LAHAB, the UAE's sole munitions producer, has entered into a partnership and signed an MoU with Türkiye's ASSAN Group. This collaboration aims to develop new solutions and enhance LAHAB's manufacturing capabilities. The agreement focuses on co-developing innovative ammunition types and establishing a robust supply chain for essential energetic materials.

ASSAN will support LAHAB in upgrading its facilities to improve production efficiency. This enhancement will help LAHAB meet the growing demands of its customers more effectively. The partnership was formalised at SAHA EXPO 2024 in Istanbul, Türkiye, reflecting EDGE’s dedication to expanding strategic ties with the Turkish defence sector.

The collaboration aligns with EDGE’s Industry 4.0 roadmap, aiming to ensure the UAE achieves strategic independence from potentially unstable global supply chains. Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO of EDGE Group, emphasised the importance of this partnership in maintaining a competitive munitions industry.

Emin Öner, Chairman of ASSAN Group, highlighted the impact of the COVID pandemic on global supply chains. He stated that ASSAN is striving to be a reliable partner for supplying critical materials. The MoU with LAHAB marks a significant step in addressing supply chain challenges in the defence industry.

This partnership underscores both companies' commitment to innovation and mutual industrial growth. It also facilitates knowledge sharing between the UAE and Türkiye, fostering opportunities for further cooperation within the defence sector.
