Dubai International Airport Receives ACI Safety Recognition Award For Innovative Safety Leadership
Dubai International Airport (DXB) has been awarded the Airports Council International (ACI) Safety Recognition Award 2025. This accolade acknowledges DXB's innovative and proactive approach to aerodrome safety, highlighting its continuous efforts to implement smart, scalable solutions that enhance operational resilience and establish new industry standards.
The award is given to airport operators who exceed compliance requirements, driving significant improvements in safety management and risk mitigation. CEO Paul Griffiths and Buti Qurwash, SVP of Safety & Security at Dubai Airports, accepted the award during the 2nd ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East Regional Assembly and Conference held in New Delhi, India.

DXB's safety strategy focuses on engagement, innovation, and collaboration. Recent initiatives include the Safety Superstar Award, which honours employees for outstanding safety practices. Additionally, a confidential reporting system has been introduced to make it easier for employees to report any concerns they may have.
Interactive safety videos, targeted safety surveys, and joint safety campaigns have further enhanced awareness and accountability among all stakeholders. By integrating technology, recognition programmes, and data-driven insights, these efforts are fostering a more resilient and safety-conscious airport environment.
Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, stated: "Safety isn’t just about compliance — it’s the backbone of how we operate. This recognition from ACI is a testament to the commitment of our teams and partners, who work tirelessly to keep DXB running safely and seamlessly every day." He emphasised that DXB anticipates challenges rather than waiting for them to occur.
Griffiths added that by using data, technology, and collaboration, DXB ensures that safety evolves alongside the demands of a rapidly changing industry. As the world’s busiest international airport, DXB is committed not only to maintaining high standards but also to advancing them by setting new benchmarks for aviation globally.
This award underscores DXB's dedication to creating a safer airport environment through innovative practices and collaborative efforts. The initiatives implemented at DXB serve as a model for other airports aiming to enhance their own safety protocols while meeting evolving industry demands.
