Ducab Group Launches ‘Ducab Plants For Progress’ Initiative To Plant 1,000 Trees In UAE

Ducab Group has launched the "Ducab Plants for Progress" initiative to enhance environmental conservation. This effort, in collaboration with the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG), aligns with the "Plant the Emirates" National Programme. Initiated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, this programme is part of the 'Year of Sustainability' and aims to promote sustainable agriculture and expand green spaces across the UAE.

The initiative's goals include supporting agricultural development, protecting the environment, and enhancing national food security. It is part of Ducab's broader "Ducab Ducare" strategy, which highlights its leadership in environmental preservation. The initiative also supports the UAE Energy Strategy 2050 and the UAE Net Zero 2050 Strategic Initiative, both focused on reducing carbon emissions and promoting biodiversity.

The initiative contributes to several UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3), Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7), Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11), and Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9). The launch event was attended by notable figures including Alia Abdul Rahim Al Harmoudi from MOCCAE, Othaibah Saeed Al Qaydi from MOCCAE, Mohammad Almutawa of Ducab, and Habiba Al Mar’ashi of EEG.

Alia Abdul Rahim Al Harmoudi expressed her enthusiasm for Ducab’s initiative to plant 1,000 trees under the ‘Plant the Emirates’ National Programme. She highlighted that this effort underscores the UAE's dedication to advancing agriculture and integrating sustainable practices into citizens' lives. She thanked Ducab and EEG for their significant contribution to promoting sustainability nationwide.

Mohammad Almutawa, Group CEO of Ducab, stated that this initiative reflects His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum's vision to embed sustainability into daily life. He noted that "The Year of Sustainability" marks a transformative period for the UAE. Ducab is proud to support this national programme by planting 1,000 trees in collaboration with EEG.

Almutawa further explained that each tree planted by Ducab team members signifies a step towards preserving the natural environment and combating desertification. This initiative highlights Ducab’s commitment to achieving the UAE’s environmental goals while creating a sustainable legacy for future generations.

Future Collaborations

Ducab plans to plant 1,000 native Ghaf, Samar, and Sidra trees across its facilities. These trees are expected to absorb around 22 tonnes of carbon annually. Team members will plant trees bearing their names, showcasing Ducab’s leadership in sustainability efforts.

Habiba Al Mar’ashi from EEG remarked that launching "Ducab Plants for Progress" with Ducab Group marks a significant step towards accelerating sustainability goals in the UAE. She emphasised that environmental preservation requires cooperation from all sectors of society.

The partnership between Ducab Group and EEG will be formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement will establish a framework for ongoing sustainability initiatives within Ducab’s operations. The focus will be on supporting efforts to reduce carbon emissions while promoting environmental sustainability.

This initiative underscores Ducab Group's pioneering role in advancing sustainability objectives both within the UAE and globally. It aims to create a positive impact while expediting progress towards achieving sustainable development goals.
