Dubai Supreme Council Of Energy Reviews Progress On Sustainable Biofuel And Green Hydrogen Projects
The 88th meeting of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy was chaired by H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum. This virtual meeting included key figures like Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman, and Ahmed Buti Al Muhairbi, Secretary-General. Other attendees were Marwan bin Ghalita from Dubai Municipality, Abdulla bin Kalban of Emirates Global Aluminium, and Saif Humaid Al Falasi from ENOC.
During the meeting, several strategic initiatives were discussed to advance Dubai's goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050. The council reviewed progress in sustainable biofuel and green hydrogen projects. These efforts aim to position Dubai as a global leader in clean energy solutions.

The council also examined the achievements of the World Green Economy Organisation. This organisation plays a crucial role in fostering international partnerships and developing local skills for transitioning to a green economy. Such collaborations are vital for driving sustainable development in the region.
Another key topic was the Demand Side Management Strategy 2050. This strategy targets significant reductions in electricity, water, and fuel consumption. By 2030, it aims for at least a 30% reduction compared to usual consumption patterns, with an ambitious goal of reaching 50% by 2050.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer highlighted ongoing efforts aligned with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's vision. "In line with the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to strengthen Dubai’s position as a leading global hub for energy efficiency by increasing efficiency improvements," he stated.
Al Tayer further elaborated on how these initiatives align with both the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050. These strategies aim to ensure that all energy production capacity comes from clean sources by mid-century.
