Dubai Public Library Honoured With Naseej Academy Library And Information Pioneers Award For Professional Excellence

The Dubai Public Library, overseen by the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), has received the 'Naseej Academy Library and Information Pioneers Award' for Professional Excellence in the Arab world. This accolade acknowledges its significant contributions to the Arab library sector, its ongoing development, and its literary initiatives that enhance the local cultural landscape.

During the 35th Arab Federation for Libraries and Information Conference in Muscat, Oman, this award was presented. The conference was held under the theme ‘Arab Libraries and Archives Institutions and Their Role in Promoting Digital Identity and Citizenship.’ Organised by Oman’s Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth alongside Sultan Qaboos University and AFLI, it attracted numerous academics and library professionals from across the region.

Dubai Culture showcased various projects aimed at bolstering cultural and creative industries during the conference. These initiatives focus on transforming libraries into interactive spaces that empower community members by developing life skills, promoting reading, encouraging creative thinking, and adopting innovative solutions.

The conference sessions addressed topics like digital content management, library applications, and artificial intelligence's role in improving information accessibility. It also highlighted notable regional experiences that support libraries as educational and creative environments. Participants explored new tools enhancing library efficiency and their societal roles.

Abdulrahman Kalbat, Director of the Public Libraries Department at Dubai Culture, emphasised their dedication to enriching the local cultural scene through diverse initiatives offered by Dubai Public Library. He stated: "Winning this award embodies the Authority’s dedication to achieving excellence in the library sector."

Kalbat further noted that Dubai Public Library has become a major knowledge platform due to its rich resources and exceptional services. It serves as a cultural gateway for all community members, setting a benchmark across the Arab region. The award encourages continued advancement in delivering high-quality services.
