Dubai Media Council Strengthens Commitment To Empower Young Emirati Media Talent And Future Careers

A delegation from the Dubai Media Council (DMC) recently visited the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) in Dubai. The visit aimed to engage media students and introduce them to the ‘Emirati Media Talent Pledge’ initiative. This initiative is part of DMC's commitment to nurturing future national media talent.

The visit, led by Nehal Badri, Secretary-General of the Dubai Media Council, sought to strengthen ties with the academic community. It provided students with direct exposure to the Council’s initiatives, offering guidance on career development and entry into the media sector.

Empowering Young Emirati Media Talent

The DMC emphasised its dedication to empowering Emirati media talent, particularly young individuals. This strategic priority aligns with leadership’s vision to build a future-ready national media sector. The Council aims to provide tools, opportunities, and a supportive environment for young professionals.

Dr. Faisal Al Ayyan, President and CEO of HCT, welcomed the DMC delegation. He stated, "We value the Dubai Media Council’s leading role in advancing the development of Dubai’s media sector and its commitment to translating the vision of the UAE leadership into meaningful action."

Dr. Yahya Al Ansaari, Executive Director of Dubai Campuses at HCT, expressed pride in collaborating with DMC. He noted that this partnership opens valuable opportunities for students, enhancing their understanding of the industry and preparing them for future careers.

During discussions with senior HCT leadership and faculty members, Nehal Badri highlighted DMC's commitment to empowering young national media talent. She praised HCT’s forward-thinking approach to media education and its Digital Media degree as examples of preparing students for a rapidly evolving sector.

Initiatives for Future-Ready Media Professionals

Badri also mentioned that directives from H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum place youth at the centre of all Council initiatives. The ‘Emirati Media Talent Pledge’ was launched to bridge academic education with professional media practice.

Saif Al Suwaidi, Project Manager at DMC, explained that the initiative aims to identify and train promising national talent for careers in media. It is designed in partnership with universities and leading organisations across the UAE and beyond.

Student Engagement and Project Showcase

The visit concluded with presentations from HCT students showcasing their final-year projects. They discussed their ideas and outcomes behind their work. The DMC delegation also toured HCT Dubai’s academic departments, including engineering, computer science, and applied media programmes.
