Dubai Land Department And Masdar City Collaborate To Enable Free Zone Companies To Own Properties In Dubai

Dubai Land Department (DLD) has partnered with Masdar City to allow businesses in Masdar City's free zones to own land and properties in Dubai. This initiative is part of DLD's strategy to boost the emirate's real estate market competitiveness by offering new opportunities for free zone companies, aligning with the Dubai Real Estate Strategy 2033.

The memorandum was signed by Majid Al Marri, CEO of the Real Estate Registration Sector at DLD, and Ahmed Baghoum, CEO of Masdar City. The signing ceremony took place in Dubai, attended by several directors from both organisations. This agreement aims to create a comprehensive regulatory framework for property ownership.

Dubai Land Department Partners with Masdar City

Majid Al Marri stated, "We continue to expand access to Dubai’s freehold market through collaborative models that enhance the integration of the real estate ecosystem across the UAE. Enabling companies registered in free zones to own property in the emirate aligns with our vision of building a more open investment environment that offers diverse ownership options. We consider this a strategic step that adds significant value to the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 by diversifying the investor base and stimulating new investment flows that contribute to market growth and sustainability, all in line with our leadership’s vision of making Dubai the best city in the world to live and work."

This partnership will establish an integrated framework outlining eligibility criteria for businesses and detailing legal and administrative procedures for registration. The collaboration will ensure direct coordination between DLD and the Free Zone Authority, simplifying processes and enabling efficient data exchange.

Ahmed Baghoum commented, "This initiative highlights Masdar City’s commitment to supporting businesses with innovative solutions that address their needs. By simplifying property registration processes for companies operating within Masdar City’s Free Zones, we are enabling them to expand their operations seamlessly while contributing to the UAE’s long-term growth. This partnership highlights our shared vision with DLD to create a business-friendly environment and reinforces Masdar City’s position as a global hub for innovation and investment."

The agreement includes implementing an advanced digital system for online applications, request tracking, and document verification. This system aims to enhance accuracy and transparency while providing guidance and support to companies regarding legal requirements.

Supporting Business Expansion

This collaboration supports companies' expansion plans by offering practical solutions for entering Dubai's dynamic real estate market. It reflects DLD's commitment to open policies that enhance market flexibility and attract high-quality investments.

The partnership also contributes to building an integrated business environment across the UAE, fostering ownership and investment opportunities. By simplifying processes and providing clear guidelines, it aims to encourage more businesses to invest in Dubai's thriving real estate sector.
