Dubai Investments And Angola's Ministry Of Health Collaborate To Enhance Local Pharmaceutical Production

Dubai Investments, a notable entity on the Dubai Financial Market, has announced a collaboration with Angola's Ministry of Health through its fully owned subsidiary, Globalpharma—a prominent pharmaceutical manufacturer in the UAE. This partnership aims to set up a pharmaceutical manufacturing unit within DIP Angola, bolstering the healthcare infrastructure within the region.

This initiative is a direct outcome of the enhanced diplomatic relations between the UAE and Angola, a bond that was further emphasised during a visit by a UAE delegation to Angola. The delegation was led by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan highlighting both nations' dedication to fostering cooperation and sustainable development within key sectors.

In accordance with the MoU, Globalpharma will collaborate with Angola’s Health Ministry to localize the production of medicines. This venture is poised to generate numerous job opportunities, promote healthcare independence, and minimise the need for imported medical supplies.

The agreement was formally sealed by Khalid bin Kalban, vice chairman and CEO of Dubai Investments, and Dr. Nídia da Silva Jorge Saiundo, representing Angola's Ministry of Health. This act underscored the mutual commitment to nurturing sustainable healthcare advancements in Angola.

Khalid bin Kalban expressed the significance of this partnership, stating, "This agreement marks more than a partnership — it represents a shared vision for the future of Angola's healthcare landscape. Dubai Investments believes that sustainable growth comes from empowering nations to unlock their own potential. By aligning with Angola's ambitions to become a regional hub for healthcare, Dubai Investments is investing not just in a project through this facility in DIP Angola, but in the foundations of long-term healthcare prosperity."

Globalpharma, with over 20 years of expertise, is recognised for producing a wide range of high-quality generic and branded pharmaceuticals, catering to essential health areas such as cardiovascular diseases, anti-infective medications, gastrointestinal treatments, and pain management. The company’s manufacturing infrastructure, compliant with cGMP standards, has received endorsements from health authorities across various regions including the GCC, Levant, Africa, and CIS.

Hon. Sílvia Paula Valentim Lutucuta, Angola's Health Minister, remarked on the collaboration, stating, "This collaboration with DIP Angola and Globalpharma will strengthen Angola's local production of essential medicines, reinforcing our healthcare system and ensuring greater access to high-quality medical products. By boosting domestic manufacturing, we are advancing toward self-sufficiency and improving the resilience of our healthcare sector."

The MoUs will ensure the ministry's support in the seamless execution of DIP Angola’s projects, coordinating with relevant governmental bodies for swift issuance of necessary licenses, permits, and regulatory approvals. This cooperation also extends to facilitating access to tax benefits, exemptions, and investment perks in line with national legislation and investment promotion protocols.

Over the past two years, Dubai Investments has been progressively increasing its presence in Angola through DIP Angola, the nation's pioneering integrated economic zone. Drawing inspiration from the Dubai Investments Park in the UAE, DIP Angola is designed to be a cornerstone for Angola's economic diversification, industrialization, and employment generation, merging residential, commercial, and industrial elements in a single development.
