Dubai International Chamber Launches New Office In Cape Town To Enhance Trade Relations

Dubai International Chamber, part of Dubai Chambers, has opened a new office in Cape Town. This move aims to strengthen business connections between Dubai and South Africa. The office is part of the 'Dubai Global' initiative, focusing on boosting economic ties and supporting trade and investment growth between the two regions.

The official opening took place at Dubai Chambers’ headquarters. Alan Winde, Premier of the Western Cape Province in South Africa, attended the ceremony. He led a delegation to discuss business opportunities and formalise relations with Dubai Chambers. The discussions centred on enhancing trade, tourism, and investments between Dubai and the Western Cape.

New Dubai Office Opens in Cape Town

Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, stated that South Africa is a key economic partner for Dubai. He noted the potential for expanding trade and investments. "The launch of our new office in Cape Town reflects our commitment to deepening economic cooperation with the region and supporting South African companies in leveraging Dubai as a gateway to global markets. We look forward to fostering new partnerships that contribute to mutual growth and prosperity."

Alan Winde expressed enthusiasm about the new office in Cape Town. He said, "The Western Cape Government warmly welcomes Dubai International Chamber’s move to set up its new office in Cape Town. To grow our economy and create many more jobs, we must strengthen international partnerships and drive opportunities for our international partners to invest here and grow our economy. Our province has much to offer, and we look forward to a long and fruitful partnership between our regions."

The establishment of this office comes amid increasing trade between Dubai and South Africa. Last year saw non-oil bilateral trade reach approximately AED29 billion, marking a 20% annual growth. This indicates a rising interest among South African businesses in engaging with Dubai's market.

The number of active members from South Africa within the Dubai Chamber of Commerce rose by 23.8% last year, reaching 775 by late 2024. Additionally, 51 new companies joined during Q1 2025 alone, highlighting ongoing strong momentum.

This strategic expansion aims to facilitate further collaboration between businesses in both regions. It underscores the commitment to mutual economic growth through enhanced partnerships.
