Dubai Humanitarian Airlift Provides Essential Aid To Afghanistan Following Recent Earthquake

Dubai Humanitarian has launched an emergency airlift to Afghanistan following a severe earthquake. This initiative, directed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aims to provide urgent aid to those affected. The relief effort is coordinated with various humanitarian organisations in Dubai, including WHO, UNHCR, WFP/UNHRD, and UNICEF. A B747 freighter carrying essential supplies departed for Kabul earlier today.

The cargo includes approximately 84 metric tonnes of vital relief items such as medical supplies and shelter materials. These goods are valued at over $929,500 (AED3.4 million) and are intended to assist nearly 730,000 people impacted by the disaster. The shipment underscores Dubai's commitment to providing swift assistance during crises.

Giuseppe Saba, CEO and Board Member of Dubai Humanitarian, highlighted the organisation's role in facilitating rapid responses to disasters. "Dubai Humanitarian enables organisations to act swiftly and effectively when disasters strike," he stated. After the earthquake, they quickly worked with international partners to determine needs and prioritise essential relief items.
