Dubai’s Healthcare Sector Marks Impressive Growth In Q1 Of 2024
The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has reported a significant expansion in healthcare infrastructure during the first quarter of 2024. This period saw a 9% increase in healthcare facilities compared to the same timeframe last year. Additionally, there was a 7% rise in the number of healthcare professionals.
During this quarter, the DHA issued licences to over 150 healthcare facilities and 800 healthcare professionals in Dubai. The authority also renewed licences for 12,319 healthcare professionals and 1,122 healthcare facilities, reflecting the sector's vitality.

The DHA’s efforts reaffirm Dubai’s commitment to transforming its healthcare sector into one of the best globally. The emirate now boasts a total of 5,020 licensed healthcare facilities employing 59,509 highly skilled professionals.
Dr. Marwan Al Mulla, CEO of DHA’s Health Regulation Sector, highlighted that the surge in healthcare investment bolsters the sector’s competitiveness and aligns with Dubai Economic Agenda D33. This agenda aims to enhance economic growth and sustainability.
The DHA licensed 12,319 healthcare professionals in the first quarter of 2024. Various facilities were also licensed, including 64 outpatient clinics, 2 hospitals, 49 pharmacies, 17 optical assessment centres, 2 laboratories, 3 radiology diagnostic centres, and 11 home healthcare centres.
As of March, Dubai had a total of 13,370 licensed doctors, 4,162 licensed dentists, and 23,134 nursing and midwifery professionals. Complementary and alternative medicine practitioners numbered 474, while supporting medical centres stood at 18,767.
Strategic Partnerships
Dr. Al Mulla emphasised that the increase in licensed facilities and professionals signifies Dubai's strong standing as a prime hub for healthcare investment. He reiterated the DHA’s emphasis on supporting and incentivising the private sector as a strategic partner to the government sector in achieving future objectives.
This partnership aims to elevate healthcare services and enhance the health and well-being of citizens, residents, and visitors alike. It further solidifies Dubai's standing as a premier healthcare destination both regionally and globally.
Technological Advancements
Dr. Al Mulla also highlighted the extensive range of facilities offered by the Dubai Government to promote healthcare investment. This includes streamlining and hastening the process of acquiring medical licences via the electronic licensing platform ‘Sheryan.’
By leveraging advanced technologies to augment system agility and efficacy, the authority aims to create seamless processes for enhanced efficiency and added convenience for stakeholders and investors.
